Steven R. Fowler, age 55, of Hammond, IN passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on Monday, November 25, 2024.
He is survived by his loving mother, Judy W. Fowler (nee Wilson); stepbrother, Mark Duchesne; many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew and friends.
Preceded in death by his father Roger D. Fowler.
Steve was born in Hammond and has been a lifelong Region Rat. He was a graduate of Griffith High School, class of 1987. Steve pursued classes in journalism at South Suburban College which led to his career at WJOB as a radio host and sports broadcaster. Steve has been employed by the City of Hammond for the past 20 years in the public works department. Those closet to Steve will always remember his dry and boisterous laugh, his knowledge of sports, politics, and anything and everything to do with the Calumet Region. Most of all, they will remember his kind and giving heart. He enjoyed being around his family and friends and going fishing and to the casinos. Steve was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Stock Cars and NASCAR.
