Sylvia De La Rosa

Sylvia De La Rosa, age 54, of Cedar Lake, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 18, 2026, after a brief illness.

She is survived by two children: Selena Owens and Alejandro Owens; seven grandchildren: Bentley, Lincoln, Gohan, Nova, Landon, Karsen and Kenyon; siblings: Ramiro Perez with whom she made her home, Angie Lucio, Rolando De La Rosa, Virginia De La Rosa, Irma De La Rosa, Jaime De La Rosa, and John Paul (Lisa) Lincoln; numerous cousins, including special cousin David De La Rosa, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her mother, Solia De La Rosa; brothers: John Paul De La Rosa and Jose Angel Lincon; aunts: Mary Pizano and Norma Rocha.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial visitation on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Ave. Hammond, IN 46323. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors, Jose Burgos, Armando Sanchez and Peter Sanchez officiating.

Sylvia was born in Texas but has lived in the Midwest most of her life. She was a faithful member of New Creation Ministry Church. In her free time, she enjoyed playing Mexican Bingo, shopping and exercising with her friends. Sylvia was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and most of all Michigan. Her favorite thing was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was always willing to help others and enjoyed taking care of her nieces and nephews. Sylvia loved the Grinch and will be remembered for her dedication to her family and being the glue that held them together.
