Theresa M. Garza, age 75, of East Chicago, went home to be with the Lord on Monday July 15, 2024. She is survived by grandchildren: Jessica Garza, David Gonzales, Daniel Gonzales, Julian Ponce, Ariel Ponce, Arianna Garza and Max Garza; Goddaughter, Trinity Starr; eight great-grandchildren; siblings: Peter Salvador (Liz) Garza and Minerva Nieves; aunts, Marianne, Dolly and Pearl; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Preceded in death by her parents: Salvador and Aurora Garza; and son David S. Garza.

Cremation has taken place in accordance with Theresa's wishes. A graveside service for her and her son David will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. John Cemetery, 1547-167th Street, Hammond IN 46320. Bocken Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.

Theresa was born and raised in East Chicago and has been a lifetime resident of the region. She graduated from Bishop Noll Institute with honors in the Class of 1967. Theresa was retired from LTV Steel as a computer operator. She attended St. Stanislaus Catholic Church when her health permitted. Theresa loved anything Disney, she enjoyed playing Bingo, watching classic movies, driving and being around people, especially her family. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and lifelong friend to many and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family would be preferred.
