Before moving to Valparaiso a few years ago, Tom was a lifetime resident of Hessville. He graduated from Morton High School in 1974. After graduating from Wyoming Tech, he would become known as "Jazz" by his coworkers at Inland Steel where he worked as a millwright for 30 years before retiring. In retirement, Tom spent many happy hours working in his garage on cars, mowers, golf carts and anything with a motor. He was always ready to help friends and family with whatever they needed and he took special joy in cooking for others. He would be the first at the grill and the last to eat, but all can agree that a meal made by Tom was always worthwhile; some of the best meals were shared at camp or at family reunions with loved ones. Spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, was something that brought Tom immense joy and satisfaction with life along with peaceful moments shared with Janet. They loved spending time on their deck in the hot tub listening to music together.
Tom was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. For more information you may call Bocken Funeral Home at (219)-844-1600, or www.bockenfunerals.com.
