Thomas Brian O'Dea, age 70, of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Susan L. O'Dea (Nee Tate), 4 children; Eric (Michelle) O'Dea, Paul (Christy) O'Dea, Theresa (Ron) Tarver, Christine (Keith) Rice, 5 step children; Paul (Diana) Daniel, Kelly (Joe) Vates, Sherry (Terry) Trzcinski, John (Melissa) Beller and Bobbie (Andy Hoffmann) McCooley.

Many grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, friends and his beloved dog Mitsy.

Preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Cornelia O'Dea, brothers; Ron, Mike, John and Bob.

A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Private cremation will proceed. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a memorial visitation on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Bocken Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Tom was born in Chicago Heights, IL and raised in Northwest Indiana; he is a graduate of Hammond Tech High School. He was retired from Bemcor formerly Beatty Machine as a Mechanic after 25 years of service. Tom enjoyed spending time at his lake home, fishing, watching sports, cheering on the Chicago Cub's and Bears but most of all spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Tom was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandpa, and brother who will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation at www.pcf.org.
