Timoteo “Tim” Medrano Jr., 61, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, friendships, and people who were better for having known him.

Tim was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Francis Saldana and Timoteo Medrano Sr.; his oldest sister, Josie Hawkins, brother-in-law, Rick Hawkins; and his oldest nephew, Jason Hawkins.

Tim was a lifelong Hammond resident and proud Hammond High School alumnus, Class of 1982. During his high school years, he was a manager for many of the school’s teams, reflecting his lifelong love of sports and the people who surrounded them. He remained a passionate Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Cardinals fan throughout his life.

After high school, Tim dedicated nearly 40 years to the United States Postal Service, retiring in November. Being a postal worker was more than simply a job to Tim…it was something he was genuinely proud of. He loved the people on his route and the relationships he built along the way. For nearly four decades, he became a familiar and friendly face to countless people in the Hessville community.

Tim had a love for many things: music, sports, good food, weight training, and walking around town. But perhaps what he loved most was people. His friends were not simply friends to him; they became his family.

Those who knew Tim will remember his sarcastic wit, his sense of humor, and his ability to make people laugh. He could be funny, outspoken, and always ready with a comment. He had a personality that was uniquely his own, and there was rarely a dull moment when Tim was around.

More importantly, Tim was a friend to all who crossed his path. He was an encourager who genuinely wanted other people to succeed and have the best life possible. He celebrated other people’s victories, offered words of encouragement, and cared deeply about the people he called friends.

Tim leaves behind his four sisters: Susana Alcazar (Artudo), Irma Keller (John), Emelda Medrano (Jose Bustos), and Christy Medrano (Andy); as well as his nieces and nephews, Matthew, Adriana, Melinda, Martin, Grant, Tatiana, Isabella, Cordiella, Gordon, Angela and Tony, long-time friend Linda, and countless friends who became family.

Tim’s family and friends choose to remember him not by the difficulties he faced, but by the laughter he shared, the friendships he built, the people he encouraged, and the many lives he touched simply by being Tim. We pray that after a long and sometimes difficult journey, Tim has finally found the peace he deserves. We picture him entering the heavenly gates and being welcomed home by the parents, sister, nephew, brother-in-law, and loved ones who have been waiting for him with open and loving arms. May he finally rest easy. May he know how deeply he was loved. And may the laughter, stories, friendships, and memories he left behind continue to keep his spirit alive.

Until we meet again, Tim. You were loved, you were never alone, and you will never be forgotten.
