Victor Joseph Szanyi, Jr., age 68 of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2011.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Kimberly S. (nee, Campbell) Szanyi of Hammond;
3 children: Victor J. (Kelly) Szanyi, III of Countryside, IL,
Monica A. Szanyi of Hammond and
Anne M. Goodman of Griffith;
3 grandchildren: John, Joshua and Zachary and a host of many dear friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Victor J. and Margaret Szanyi, Sr. and one brother, Russell Szanyi.
Vic was a lifetime resident of Hammond. He worked as a coil temperature operator at L.T.V. Steel and retired after 38 years of service. Vic made many bone carvings and was also a "jack of all trades" he was affectionately called "Fix-it Daddy". Vic was a lifelong lover of animals, enjoyed listening to his vinyl records, hiking and canoeing.
He was a wonderful story teller, a gentle soul, beloved husband, wonderful father and grandfather who was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
As per his wishes services were private. Memorials may be made to the family.
