Vivian May Semesky, age 83 of Hammond, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, September 6, 2012 at Manor Care in South Holland, IL, following a brief battle with cancer.
She is survived by her five loving children; Thomas (Special friend Penny McCreight)Semesky of Hammond, Catherine (Daniel) Chmielewski of Westville, IN, Patricia (Michael) Bartsch of Plainfield, WI, Timothy (Denise) Semesky of Hammond and Theodore(Linda) Semesky Jr.of Fishers, IN.
Six grandchildren; Jeffrey Moore, Daniel Chmielewski, Jr,, Thomas Moore, John Chmielewski, Crystal Semesky and Maegan Semesky
Five great grandchildren; Katrina Dehnel, Breanna, Theo, Cheyenne and Casper Chmielewski; two brothers: Dennis (Donna) Fedor of Lake Station, IN and Ronald (Dee) Fedor of Cosby, TN. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends including special friends, Larry "Glupa" McDonald of Gary, IN, and Shirley Semesky of Syracuse, N.Y.
Preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Theodore Semesky,Parents Andrew (Mary) Fedor and one sister Dorothy Dernay.
A celebration of her life will begin with visitation from 4pm til 8pm on Monday September 10, 2012 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Funeral Services Tuesday, September 11, 2012 with prayers at 9.45 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10.30am at St Ann Parish 6025 W. 25th Ave. Gary, IN, with Fr. Theodore Mens, officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville, IN.
Vivian was born August 11, 1929, in Whiting, IN, the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Fedor (NeeKundrat) She married Theodore Semesky on June 25, 1949, in Whiting. Theodore preceded her in death in 1988. Vivian loved gardening when she was able, riding around town on her electric scooter, working crossword puzzles and staying in touch with her email friends. She also enjoyed collecting Praying Hands figurines.
