Walker Morris Hembree age 81 of Hammond, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 19, 2011.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Joyce Lee Hembree (nee Bozarth)
2 Daughters Brenda (Joseph) Szydlowski Sr. of Carmel, IN and Sharon (John) Cutka of Griffith, IN
5 grandchildren; Joseph (Susan) Szydlowski Jr., Vanessa (Mario) Calderon, John Szydlowski, Michelle (Nicholas) Glinski and Emily Cutka.
7 great grandchildren; Eden and Eve Szydlowski, Aiyana and Adalai Calderon, and Jenna, Jaxon and Janie Glinski.
2 Sisters Mary Rudick and Sallie Williams,1 Sister in law Ada Hembree.
Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Wright and Idella Hembree, 1 sister Donnie Ferrell, 2 brothers Johnnie and Henry Hembree. 3 brothers in law William Ferrell, Calvin Rudick and Virgil Williams and sister in law Opal Hembree.
A funeral service to celebrate Walker's life will be held on Monday November 21, 2011 at 7pm at the Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville); Burial will follow on Wednesday November 23rd at Woodman Cemetery in McCrory, Arkansas. Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Bocken Funeral Home on Monday November 21, 2011 from 4 until 7pm.
Walker was born in Hillman, Arkansas and has lived in the region since 1948. Walker was a member of the Masonic Colony Lodge in McCrory, Arkansas. He retired from LaSalle steel in 1985 after 28 years service as a Machine Operator. Walker enjoyed playing the guitar, loved music and fishing and was an avid bird hunter. He enjoyed spending time with his family and very involved in his grandchildren's activities and events. He was a very loving Husband, Father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed.
