Wendell "Jay" Gray, age 61, of Hessville, IN passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 28, 2011.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years Carolyn A. Gray (Wethington), Daughter Tammie (Mike) Philipps, Son Wendell (Nikki) Gray Jr., three Grandchildren Jacob and Becky Jablonski, and Alex Gray. One brother Charles Wayne (Lucy) Gray, Three sisters Olivia Jane (Edward) Shedd, Nina Marie (Larry) Bowden and Nora Jean Yocum. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Nora Gray. One sister Sue Gray.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 5pm at the Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Robert Carmen officiating. Private cremation to follow. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 from 2pm-5pm. at Bocken Funeral Home.
Jay was born in Fairbury, IL, raised in Kentucky and has lived in the Calumet region since 1966.He retired from Yellow Roadway Corporation as a truck driver after 26 years of service. Jay was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His passions included fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. Memorials to the family would be appreciated.
