William Porter Williams, age 89, of Sauk Village, was ushered into the arms of God on Sunday, July 19, 2015.
He is survived by 1 daughter, Rhonda (Larry) Boggs;

2 grandchildren: Thaba Boggs and David Boggs;

several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years,

Clyda M. Williams; son, William P. Williams, III; parents, William and Nellie Jane Williams; sister, Mary Elizabeth Pruitt.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. directly at Jack Hyles Memorial Auditorium, 523 Sibley, Hammond with Pastor Roy Moffitt officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park in Crown Point.  Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Wednesday, July 22nd at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Ave., Hammond (Hessville) from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Bill has been a resident of the Sauk Village Area since 1966.  He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and served during WWII on the USS Gamble. Bill was a longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church in Hammond. He loved his church and served as an usher for many years.  Bill enjoyed playing softball on the church league. He was a kind and generous man who was always willing to help others.  In lieu of flowers memorials to the family would be appreciated.
