Carlos Ray Higginbottom, age 71, of Winamac, formerly of Hammond passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carletta Higginbottom (nee Ahlfield); two children: Sarah (Jon) Beck and Craig (Amber) Higginbottom; six grandchildren: Dillyn, River, Starli, Zane, Ella and Emmy; two sisters: LaDonna Stinson and DeDe (DeVon) Skinner; mother in-law, Emma Ahlfield; brother in-law, David (Susan) Ahlfield; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Erma Dean Higginbottom; father in-law, Carl Ahlfield.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for visitation on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). A service to honor Carlos life will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Orlando Soler officiating. Graveside burial will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time at Little Flock Cemetery, Shelburn, IN.

Carlos was a long-time resident of Hammond before moving to Winamac.  He was retired from AreclorMittal Steel Company after 44 years of service. He was a member of Steel Workers union Local 1011. Carlos enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, listening to all kinds of music and being around family and friends. He was also a history and genealogy buff. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather that will be dearly missed.
