Douglas A. Solberg, age 63, of Hammond peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

He is survived by his five siblings: Sharon DeVries, Ronald (Linda) Solberg, Roseanne Bohanan, Roy (Bobbi) Boston and Lorraine (Paul) Kostka as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents: Theodore and Virginia Solberg; siblings: Leslie Solberg and Alice Grysiewicz; brother in-law, Donald DeVries.

Friends are invited to join the family at a memorial visitation on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond IN, 46323. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Eric Kleinschmidt officiating.

Doug was a life-long resident of the region where he graduated from Highland High School in 1976. He was a pipefitter for local 597 for over 30 years and worked at Tech Refrigeration for 25 years. Doug was a gentle soul who enjoyed helping others. He could be found working on cars or watching NASCAR and the Indy 500. Doug could fix about anything.
