 Joseph R. Ramirez, age 81, of East Chicago, passed away peacefully on Friday September 30, 2022.

He is survived by three sisters: Remiga (late Lee) Lozano, Helen (late Hector) Villareal and Mary Munoz; former brother in-law, Lorenzo J. Munoz as well as numerous nieces and nephew that he loved very much.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Sostenes Perez-Ramirez; five brothers: Timothy Perez, Augustine Perez, Nazario Perez, Peter Perez and John Ramirez.

Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 7132 Arizona Ave, Hammond, IN 46323. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond.

Joe “the Coach” was born and raised in East Chicago, Indiana Harbor. He was a graduate of East Chicago Washington High School class of 1961. Joe was an avid fan of Chicago Sports. He was a member of East Chicago Central High School Boosters. He coached and managed Indiana Harbor little league for 25 years and was a member of Hammond Y.M.C.A for 28 years. Joe was retired from Blaw Knox and ISM Security. He was also a former parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe in East Chicago. Joe “the Coach” will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
