Joyce Wells, age 72, of Hammond entered into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, September 10, 2023.  

She is survived by her children: Edward C. Wells, Melissa H. Wells and Nicole M. Wells; brother, Carl R. Midkiff; grandchildren: Nicholas, Sarah, Rickey, Pailey, Katie, Courtney and Daniel; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, as well as numerous family and friends in Kentucky and Florida.

Widowed by her husband Charles Wells; also preceded in death by her  parents: Carl and Mary Midkiff; daughter, Julie Wells; Granddaughter, Rhea Wells; siblings: Sandra Willardo, Kimberly Midkiff, Michael Midkiff; and nephew, Michael Willardo.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond IN 46323 with Pastor David Kiesling officiating. Private cremation will follow. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Joyce was a lifetime resident of Hammond, she was a graduate of Hammond Tech. As a newly wed she and Charles lived on military base’s in Germany and California. Joyce enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, arts, craft’s, interior decorating, all things in nature and being a shopaholic. She was the ultimate Betty Boop fan. Joyce was an extremely hard worker and a strong woman who was the most loyal, loving mother and gaga of all time. Her favorite hobbie was spending time with her grandchildren.                                   In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
