Maria O. Sanchez, age 84, of Hammond, entered into the gates of Heaven on Thursday, February 27, 2020.
She is survived by her seven children: Odessa (George) Garcia, Armando (Lupe) Sanchez Jr., Pete (Juanita) Sanchez, Sandra (Jaime) Jimenez, Thelma Lopez, Nora (Johnny) Best and Art Sanchez; fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, one sister, Ida Martinez; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and friends.                                                                                                                                                           Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Armando Davila Sanchez; parents, Jose and Luz Lopez; one son Jose Orlando “Landy” Sanchez, three siblings: Victor Lopez, Alma Valdez and Alicia Saldana.

  Maria was born on October 18, 1935 in Pearsall, Texas and has lived in the Hammond area for over 60 years. She was retired from Carson Pirie Scott in Hammond. Maria was a loving and devoted wife, a devoted mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, sister and friend, who will be missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and entertaining and feeding her friends her Tex-Mex cooking. Marias favorite things were being a grandma, watching baseball and cheering on the Cubs, “Go Cubbies”. Most importantly she loved the Lord and leaves a legacy of children and grandchildren serving in ministries throughout the region and her contagious smile and laugh will never be forgotten.

 Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020  at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the church. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday March 1, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. DIRECTLY at Cline Avenue Fellowship Church 8600 Cline Avenue, Highland, IN 46322 with Pastors Armando Sanchez Jr., Pete Sanchez and Joe Best officiating.
