Mary Clara Onohan, age, 95 of Hammond passed away peacefully on Friday, August 20, 2021 while at Towne Centre in Merrillville.
She is survived by her daughter, Maryann (David) Jackson-Nagy; grandson, Robert (Meghan) Jackson; two great-grandchildren: Hunter and Jack Jackson; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, John Onohan; parents: Matt (Anna) Kovacic; one brother, Anthony Kovacic.
Friends are invited to join the family for a graveside service on Tuesday August 24, 2021 DIRECTLY at St. John Cemetery, 1547-167th Street, Hammond, IN 46320 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Charles Mosley, officiating. A memorial mass will be held at later date.
Mary was a lifelong resident of the region. She was a graduate of Hammond Tech High School. She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and member of the Rosary Society and Quilters club. Mary loved serving others and was a volunteer at St. Margaret Hospital and the Salvation Army. She was a fantastic baker, and avid reader and quilter. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was known to many as “Roberts Grandma” and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
