Rafael Cuadra, age 69, of Hammond passed on into eternal life on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

He is survived his wife of over 37 years Monica De Fatima Cuadra; four children: Edgar (Brenda Cardona) Cuadra, Eberardo (Johanna Charles) Cuadra, Lesly (Donald) Busby and Roger Cuadra; eight grandchildren: Estevan M. Cuadra, Nia A. Cuadra, Antonella Cuadra, Giulietta Cuadra, Milan R. Busby, Alessio A. Busby, Mailani and Melina Cuadra; siblings: Alfredo Cuadra, Francisco Cuadra, Rosa Robles, Patricia Gomez, Maria Cuadra, and Adela Tapia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Francisca Cuadra; one sister, Odulia Garcia.

Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, IN 46323.  And on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.    DIRECTLY at Our Lady Guadalupe Church 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, IN 46312.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 10 a.m. with Father Jose Joaquin Parra. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond.

Rafael was a born in Michoacán, Mexico but was a long-time resident of the region. He was a faithful member of Our Lady Guadalupe Church in East Chicago. He was retired from Sherwin Williams Paint Company as a filling operator. Rafael never stopped working, he could fix or build just about anything. In his free time, he loved to garden, work around the house and spend time at the ocean. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Rafael loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren who he adored tremendously. He loved being surrounded by close family any chance he had and loved playing his type of music.  In lieu of flowers memorials to the family would be appreciated.
