William F. Sheahan, age 87, of Hammond passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2016.
He is survived by his son, Billy Sheahan; daughter, Mary (Dino) Sheahan-Latronica; grandsons: Anthony and Joseph Latronica; sister, Maribeth Lamparski; five sister’s in law: Ann Jane Axium, Irene Foote, Rosemary Foote, Laura Meyer, Sarah Therese Sparks; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary Helen Sheahan on February 3, 2016; grandson, Zachary Latronica; parents, Frank and Alice Sheahan; brother, Robert Sheahan.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, September 16, 2016 for a time of visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7137 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. with Father Charles Mosley celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL.
Bill was born and raised in Chicago. He attended Loyola University but before completion was called to serve our county. Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean War after which he resumed his studies at Loyola and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in History/Education. Bill continued his education at DePaul University and received his Master’s in Education. He retired from Purdue University Calumet Campus after twenty years as an administrator. In his retirement Bill enjoyed gardening and became a Master Gardener. He was a longtime faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
