Yoland Sue Butler, age 73, of Hammond, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2020.
She is now reunited with her husband of 50 years, George William Butler Jr. She is survived by her two children: Jennifer (Ken) Schwingendorf and George William “Billy” Butler III; three grandchildren: Margaret Mcknabb, Alexis (Peter) Hyde, Kenneth Schwingendorf Jr.; two great grandchildren: Aleviah I. Butler and Carter B. Hyde; cousins, Sharon Bobeck, Jon Croach, Gisele Burnett, Nicole Stegman, Diane Croach, Michele Milson, Daniele Johnson, Ninette Amtmann as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margaret Croach; two brothers, Charles and Roger; one sister, Cheryl Lynn; sister in law, Lucy Ella (Robert) Jarman and cousin, Renee Lang.
Friends are invited to join the family for a memorial visitation on Monday, September 28, 2020 at Riverside Community Church 7449 Jefferson Avenue, Hammond IN 46324 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a memorial service to be held at 7 p.m. with Pastor Ronald Lineburg, officiating. Face mask are required per State of Indiana Covid-19 guild lines.
Yolanda was a longtime resident of the region. She graduated from Hammond High School in 1965. She graduated from Central College in 1969 with a bachelor’s in education. Yolanda worked for School City of Hammond for many years, she taught Home Economics, was a past president of the Hammond School Board and was a parent advocate. She touched the lives of many students and made many friends over the years. Yolanda was active in numerous churches; she was a faithful member of Riverside Community Church. Yolanda and George ministered to Lee County Prison in Ft Myers Florida where they would spend winters, by donating thousands of Bibles. They also ministered to children in Haiti by making clothes for the children. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family would be appreciated to be used in their ministries.
