Zaahira Rakhshanda Naadira Jones
May 13, 1984 - June 24, 2020
Zaahira was a very cherished, beloved daughter, sister and friend. She was born to be an exceptional child and adult. She excelled in all her endeavors and she had many:
freelance writer, cycling, basketball, chess, music, computer programming, a ferocious reader, karate, fluent Spanish speaker/writer, gardening, health teachings, and an avid marksperson.
Zaahira was witty, knowledgeable, had a broad understanding of literature, music and most educational interest. She was a long talker and a very critical thinker.
Zaahira was also a published author and a podcaster.
Zaahira was a graduate of John Marshall Metro High School in Chicago IL, where she grew up on the Westside of Chicago, a member of the National Honor Society, received Recognition of Distinguished Service Performed as a Congressional PAGE, in the United States House of Represenatives, a Honorary recipient of a Scholarship at Operation Push, received an award at the Ameritech Awards Program and was nominated to be a National Scholar representing Illinois at the National Young Leaders Conference (NYLC), to be held in Washington, D.C. by Principal Donald Pittman, of John Marshall Metro High School as an individual who has achieved academic excellence and possesses strong leadership potential. Zaahira has also received her Bachelor's Degree ( BA, AB, BS) in Literature.
Zaahira accepted Christ at a young age, and was Baptised at New Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church.
Zaahira leaves behind her bereaved mother Mary A. Jones, a close sister Ashley, nephew Jalen, niece London all of Hammond, IN, other relatives, and father Milverton Theophilus Saint Aloysius Braithwaite, Sr., of North, GA, on June 24, 2020 in Hammond, IN.
A memorial gathering to honor Zaahira's life will be held at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) IN on Monday July 13, 2020. Face mask are required for the safety of all.
