Delia Z. Perez, age 75, of Hammond, formerly of East Chicago, entered into the gates of heaven on Sunday, October 9, 2016.

She is survived by nine children:

Pat (Mike) Mc Daniel, San Juanita Perez, Veronica Perez, Nora G. Perez, Francisca (Dean) Trevino, Alejandrina (Jacob) Santos, Porfirio N. (Hortencia) Perez, Jr., Eduardo (Yolanda) Perez and Mario Perez; Thirty four grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister, Maria Pilar (Homero) Martinez; several nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Porfirio N. Perez, Sr.; grandson, Javier Solis, Jr.; parents, Alejandro and Margarita Zamora.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Delia will be taken to Castle Ridge Funeral Home in San Antonio, TX for a service and burial at Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Delia was born and raised in Texas and has lived in the Calumet Area for over 60 years. She earned an associate degree and worked as a teller at First National Bank in East Chicago. Delia worked and also volunteered with the Red Cross in Merrillville. She was very active in East Chicago and served her community in many areas. Delia will be remembered as a hard worker, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
