Lawrence J. Homco, age 80, of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at his home with his loving wife, son and two daughters by his side.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lois J. Homco (Drozynski); three children: Lawrence M. Homco, Daphne M. (Thomas) McCoy and Candace (Kevin) Ryan; three grandchildren: Lucas Homco, Connor McCoy and Shelby McCoy; one brother, Thomas Homco; many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents: Michael and Helen Homco; one sister, Marie (Mick) Meyer; three brothers: Joseph Homco, Walter (Camille) Homco and Henry Homco.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 with prayers at 9:30 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Father Charles Mosley celebrant. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm. at Bocken Funeral Home. Inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be held at a later date.

 Larry was born and raised in East Chicago and was a 1954 graduate of Roosevelt High School. Immediately after graduation he joined the U. S. Army. Larry was a supervisor at LTV Steel (J&L Steel) and retired after 45 years of dedicated service. He was an avid golfer and fisherman throughout his life. He loved watching sports and cheering on his favorite Chicago teams. He also enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards with his family and trying his luck at bingo and at the casino. Larry had a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor and could always bring a smile to your face. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother and friend and will be dearly missed. In lieu of gifts, donations may be made to Hospice of the Calumet Area.
